It all started with the memories of watching my own mother create homemade desi face masks and hair oils, and my own kitchen cupboard experiments.

At Kohinoor Skin, our mission is to carry forward the rich tradition of South Asian self-care, a tradition that may not always be considered the trendiest or most glamorous but is undeniably timeless and invaluable. As second-generation immigrants living in the West, we sometimes shy away from discussing the self-care rituals our mothers taught us, dismissing them as “desi”. In India, this system is known as Ayurveda, which translates to “knowledge of life.” With a history spanning over 3000 years, Ayurveda is still widely practiced in India today.
